What modules are included
- FG-S:
The FG-S is a digital model of a legendary 1980s British console EQ, known for its smooth top-end and wide tonal shaping range. Designed for mix engineers who need versatility, it offers interactive mid-bands, tight low shelves and musical high-end boosts. Whether you’re carving out space in a dense mix or making drums and guitars cut with clarity, the FG-S balances precision and warmth in equal measure.
- FG-N:
FG-N emulates a the most classic, discrete Class A British equaliser from the 1970s, capturing the signature harmonic saturation and transformer-driven tone that defined the sound of vintage consoles. It expands on the original by adding an extra mid-band, giving you greater flexibility for sculpting vocals, guitars and busses. Ideal for adding thickness and presence, the FG-N brings that unmistakable analogue richness to your digital mixes.
- FG-116:
Inspired by the classic American FET limiter, the FG-116 offers fast, punchy compression with vintage colouration and authentic transformer tone. It’s tuned for aggressive dynamics control, making it perfect for lead vocals, drums and bass that need to sit forward in a mix. With accurate envelope response and a thick sonic character, it delivers the gritty punch and sustain that engineers rely on in modern and retro productions alike.
- FG-401:
FG-401 is a hybrid dynamics processor combining multiple compression styles with enhanced tone-shaping options. Based on a British console VCA compressor, it features adjustable attack/release, a switchable transformer input stage, and a smooth opto compression path. This combination makes it highly adaptable, able to glue busses, control peaks or add colour across instruments. A true all-rounder for nuanced, musical compression.
- Revival:
Revival is a two-control tone enhancer designed to inject life into dull tracks. It blends elements from tube saturation, tape warmth, and transformer colour to enhance clarity and low-end weight. Use the "Shimmer" knob for subtle top-end air on vocals or synths, and "Thickness" to add low-mid body to drums or bass. It’s an intuitive way to apply complex analogue-style enhancements without deep tweaking.
- Trimmer:
Trimmer handles essential gain staging and signal prep tasks inside VMR. It provides RMS and peak level metering, simple gain control, and a phase reverse switch, making it ideal for balancing tracks before hitting processing modules. Use it at the front of your chain to dial in input levels with precision, ensuring your processors respond exactly as intended and helping maintain consistent headroom.
- Monster:
Monster recreates the legendary “all buttons in” mode from vintage FET compressors, delivering explosive parallel compression with extended creative control. It includes a high-pass filter to preserve low-end punch, a mix knob for blending dry/wet signal, and a Punch circuit to restore transients. Perfect for aggressive drum busses or forward vocals, Monster turns compression into a powerful tonal effect.
Mixing Made Easy For You
VMR 3.0 streamlines the mixing process by letting you drag and drop modules into your preferred signal path, adjusting processing order on the fly. You can start with pre-designed chains from the built-in library or build your own from scratch, with each module instantly available within the same interface. Once you've created a chain that works for your workflow, you can save it as a Dream Strip, an easy-access preset that loads your entire signal path with a single click. The goal: less setup time, more mixing time.
Precision at Every Turn
New to VMR 3.0 is Macro Controls. Macro Controls let you adjust multiple parameters across different modules at once using a single control. This is especially useful for automation passes or shaping character quickly while staying focused on the music. You can also create and assign your own Macros to suit any custom chain.
Complete Side-Chain Control
VMR 3.0 introduces full sidechain support, allowing external audio signals to control compression within compatible modules. This expands the creative potential of the rack by enabling dynamic relationships between tracks, such as ducking a bass under a kick or shaping vocals with rhythmic triggers. Crucially, this feature works even on modules that originally lacked sidechain inputs, giving you modern routing flexibility with vintage-inspired tone.
