Key Features
Boz The Wall is an easy-to-use brick wall limiter with a unique toolset that can deliver dramatic volume increase whilst retaining clarity and dynamic integrity in your mix. The Wall is a user-friendly device that removes any gimmicks or features that aren't absolutely necessary and gives you brick wall limiting in its purest form - it's as simple as that. It will soon become your go-to limiter thanks to its no mess, no fuss design that gives you fast and intuitive limiting so you can get your mixes competitively loud without crushing any colour or character that you have spent your precious time working on to achieve.
The Wall can be used for a huge variety of musical styles, with dual limiting modes, smooth and aggressive, providing adaptability for whatever you're working on, the clever MFiT button will instantly set the limiter settings in such a way that is optimised for mastering your track to lossy formats (MP3, AAC, etc.), so there is no chance of clipping, as these formats have been known to change peak levels and for keeping consistency across the stereo plane, the Stereo link button will ensure that the limiter does not clamp down on one side where less compression is necessary.
Simplicity is key when it comes to limiting, but BDL hasn't compromised on unique and necessary features to get there.

BDL have designed a control set that is simple to use and is intended to allow you to get on with your day without worrying about the complexities of dialling in your sound and then wondering whether you have even affected your mix in a positive way at all. This powerful plug-in features a bank of presets and gives you the ability to save your own so you can use the limiter your way. The classic A/B bank that features in all BDL plug-ins will help you to compare your settings, which is vital when limiting to ensure the preservation of tone.
As previously mentioned the limiting section of this plug-in is designed to be easy-to-use as possible as such, you are given a display with smooth and aggressive mode buttons, flavour fader, threshold control and meter for a visual representation of your limiting. The aforementioned stereo link and dither sit above an oversample section which is handy for preventing annoying intersample clipping.
Limiting is a process that can be as confusing to a novice as it can be to a seasoned pro, especially when our ears trick and deceive us into thinking that what we have done is benefiting the mix when all that has happened is that we have raised the volume, but have unknowingly compromised sonic transparency and clarity at the same time. BDL has attempted to combat this by providing a unique feature that will allow you to check that you haven't been deceived.
Sanity Check allows you to quickly A/B your processed sound vs your original one so you know exactly what it is you have done to your signal. Compared to a standard A/B comparison feature, Sanity Check keeps your output level and input level matched so the loudness increase doesn't overshadow the other processing that is happening behind the scenes.
Limiters are generally used for preventing overs and getting your mix ready in the mastering stage by bringing it up to the standard level of volume of today's music and The Wall is no exception to this and can be placed as the last insert on your mix processing for risk-free mastering. BDL has designed The Wall to be ultra-versatile and you can use it for parallel drum compression to subtly fill the stereo field without any fluctuation, stick it on individual drum tracks to allow every aspect of the kit extra space so they can poke through that little bit more. It provides a quick alternative to automation which can sometimes be a time-consuming process and when you're working to a deadline, getting the mix to sound great is paramount and with The Wall, you'll save time to ba able to work on other aspects of your mix.
