The CLP-885 is built around Yamaha's GrandTouch keyboard, designed to bring your playing experience closer to that of a concert grand piano. Wooden white keys, synthetic ebony and ivory keytops, escapement, counterweights, and 88-key linear graded hammers work together to create a consistent and responsive touch across the keyboard. The GrandTouch pedal system further supports expressive playing, while the GP Response Damper pedal reproduces changing resistance depending on how far the pedal is pressed. This combination gives you detailed control over dynamics, articulation, and phrasing.

Grand Expression Modeling helps translate subtle playing techniques into audible changes in tone and character. The piano responds to differences in key attack, release speed, and repeated notes, allowing you to develop a more nuanced performance. Yamaha's Virtual Resonance Modeling adds another layer of realism by recreating the sympathetic resonances that occur inside an acoustic piano.
