Key Features
The Shakmat Aeolus Mixer is an extremely flexible and powerful 6HP quadraphonic unity mixer. With three quadraphonic normalised inputs and two stereo outputs, you can process anything from mono, stereo and quadraphonic signals in one place, converting mono to stereo signals and stereo signals to quadraphonic with ease. Featuring a Centre and Sum output, you are provided with a mix of inputs one and two as well as a mix out each output, providing you with flexible 5.1 surround sound audio. Covering every typical issue with quadraphonic mixing, the Aeolus Mixer has two gain adjustments with trim pots on the rear of the unit that works on the four main quadraphonic outputs, as well as a 5.1 switch to balance the output gain of the Sum mix.
Thanks to the normalised inputs, the Aeolus Mixer lets you experiment with quadraphonic mixing with virtually any signal type to traverse new and uncharted territories. An extremely unique way to process your signals, contemporary composers will find the 5.1 surround mixing extremely handy for creating cinematic soundscapes that keep your audience yearning for more.

Dive into new territories and explore quadraphonic mixing to create wide-open spaces within your music. Three sets of quadraphonic inputs and two sets of stereo inputs allow you to have flexible routing with your tracks no matter what signal source you are using. The three sets of quadraphonic inputs are normalled, allowing you to transform a single mono signal into a wide stereo signal as well as turning a stereo signal into a quadraphonic signal.
Additional outputs include the Centre and Sum, whereby you can use the Aelous Mixer as a 5.1 surround sound, making it perfect for experimental music production or cinematic sound design and scoring. Centre is a mix of channels one and two, while the Sum is a mix of all four channels with a 5.1 switch on the face of the unit to compensate for the gain on channels one and two, keeping consistent volumes between the outputs. Additionally, there are headers on the rear of the module to provide you with a quick and easy solution to reducing the output gain by 6dB of the primary four outputs within the quadraphonic mixer.
Even if you do not have any quadraphonic modules within your Eurorack, the normalised inputs of the Aeolus Mixer provide you with a platform to explore new ways to create sound design in a modular format. The demand for quadraphonic mixing would perfectly suit contemporary composers looking to create atmospheric, tense or otherworldy passages of music for the big screen or speaker installations in a concert hall.
