The Yamaha A-Series is designed to be the perfect instrument for any of your performance needs. They have been expertly crafted to tick every box for the requirements of today's guitarists. Born to withstand life on the road, the A-Series combines an organic and natural sound with excellent comfort straight out of the box. Hand-rolled fingerboard edges and a great feeling straight taper neck allow you to take full advantage of the all-new custom designed scalloped bracing pattern. For a powerful and dynamic acoustic guitar tone that will withstand decades of use on the road, the Yamaha A-Series of guitars are the perfect match for taking your playing to the next level.
The Yamaha A1M features a solid sitka spruce top which is the most commonly used wood for guitar tops as it generates a dynamic tonal pallet and accommodates numerous playing techniques. The wood itself is quite elastic in nature, which resonates well whilst remaining strong, and provides a focused, clear sound of deep lows, warm midi-range, and bright singing highs. This is balanced out beautifully by its mahogany dual-chamber back and sides, which delivers dark warmth, rich sound, durability, and plenty of bite. Mahogany is used a lot in the acoustic world, because it is relatively economical, durable, attractive, easy to work with, and resonant. Used as back and sides panels, the tonewood provides a meaty mid-range, producing punchy, woody tones with plenty of depth and complexity that will please most playing styles.
The reason why many guitar necks are made from mahogany is because the wood responds greatly to picking styles, strumming, and various finger techniques with equal ease. This mahogany neck features a modified low oval shape, providing comfort, durability, and great playability. The mahogany neck is topped with a rosewood fingerboard that delivers a warm, bright, and sparkly tone that really shines through when using finger picking techniques. Rosewood is very resonant, with a deep warm bass, and sizzly treble, offering a smooth and energetic playing experience.
The Yamaha A1M features a dreadnought body shape, which provides an enormous voice, and maintains overall tonal balance. The dreadnought shape was originally designed for hard pick attack. However through years of superb craftsmanship, Yamaha have created a stunningly toned, well-balanced dreadnought voice that can handle many genres and styles of play with equal ease. The big body is ideal for players with a longer reach, and those more comfortable with the dreadnought size. The sheer volume the A1M can project makes it ideal for the singer/songwriter. Vocalists can really push their diaphragm to the max and not feel too loud against the guitar's volume, as it will sing as loud as you do. Its cutaway design enables players to access higher frets with ease, offering the full range of the fingerboard for players to explore more technical skills.
The Yamaha A-Series guitars are fitted with an SRT Piezo pickup which is designed to use the individual elements for each of the strings. This helps to produce an ultra-clear and ultra-wide bandwidth signal to deliver an excellent dynamic response. The tonal output of the SRT system possesses exceptional tonal accuracy.
Through feedback, extensive research, analysis and development, Yamaha has managed to create a new scalloped bracing pattern for the A-Series. The new pattern allows for more volume, more projection, increase in the low and mid-end and a bigger tone. The bracing also allows the resonance of the guitar to sit closer to the middle resulting in greater and more balanced sound pressure whilst allowing for a superb dynamic range.
The THR5A is part of the Yamaha THR series designed to provide what many guitarists have been missing, a compact amp that provides great amp tone and usable features wholly designed to work in an off-stage environment.
