The rebirth of a legend

Parlour guitars are characterised by their small bodies and fantastic playability. Robert Johnson used a Gibson Parlor in the 1930s to craft a distinctive, individual sound the like of which had never been heard before. The amazing versatility of the parlour guitar allowed Johnson to sound "like an orchestra all by himself", in the words of legendary Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards.

However, parlour instruments suffered a decline in the mid-20th century because of a need for guitars to be louder to cut above other instruments in song mixes.
