The Yamaha SVC-100 Silent Cello was Yamaha's pioneering electric cello design, offering players the feel and dimensions of a traditional acoustic instrument while enabling near-silent practice through headphones. Developed in Japan, the SVC-100 became popular with students, travelling musicians and performers requiring amplified cello sounds without feedback issues.

Using Yamaha's Silent Series technology, the instrument features a piezo pickup system with built-in reverb processing to recreate the ambience of a traditional cello body.
