The four engines of Pigments are comprised of: Harmonic, Wavetable, Virtual Analog, and Sample & Granular. Create virtually any sound with more range and flexibility than ever. Each engine has unique characteristics, and you can blend between two engines to experiment with complex sounds to your heart's content.

The harmonic engine offers cutting-edge additive synthesis to forge curious timbres from scratch. Enjoy a range of sounds from plastic tubular resonance to evolving vowel-like swells, all in vivid harmonic detail. Animate, distort and morph through over 200 complex wavetables perfect for everything from heavy bass music to sparkling leads. Courtesy of Arturia's award-winning analog emulation technology, inject analog warmth and vintage charm into your mix with the virtual analog engine. Transform samples into intricate granular patches then warp, contort, stretch and modulate them down to the finest detail with the Sample & Granular engine. Finally, the Utility engine lets you add an extra oscillator to the mix, in conjunction with 2 noise sample players to spice up your sound with instant texture, timbre, and colour.

Enjoy a simplified overview of your entire sound in Play Mode, with stripped-back modules and hands-on macros that transform Pigments into a powerful and immediate performance tool. Furthermore, if you prefer working with a brighter interface, Light Mode presents Pigments' in a sleek off-white redesign.

Sound design workflow

The latest upgrades to Pigment's fluid workflow pack intuitive features to the limit, offering comprehensive versatility in combination with intelligent design. Single-click visual modulation is easier than ever, now with a simple click-and-drag workflow that links modulation source and destination in seconds. Quickly move between in-depth views for any of Pigments' multimode modules with left-right buttons. LFO presets offer 6 familiar waveforms for quick and simple modulation. FX and sequencer bypass helps you focus and check synth engines on the fly. New sync modes create dynamic rhythms by blurring lines between straight, triplet, and dotted sync within Pigments' modulators. Finally, Pigments is now compatible with ODDSound's micro tuning software MTS-ESP, designed with Aphex Twin.

Limitless modulation

The wide variety of parameters and in-depth modulation, provides limitless creative possibilities. Providing new and modern ways to approach modulation, Pigments allows you to modulate virtually any parameter you can see. It provides cutting-edge ways to interact and shape your sounds.

Three envelopes, three LFOs, customisable parameters, randomizers and twin combinators allow you to get in-depth with your sound design. A virtual, on-screen MIDI keyboard allows you to audition sounds, even without an external MIDI controller.

New effects & filters

In addition to the in-depth modulation, Pigments provides you with a comprehensive set of premium-grade effects. The stunning collection of effects allows you to sculpt and shape your sounds with added control. Ideal for adding the finishing touches to your sound design, the new effects and filters include an MS-20 style Filter, Shimmer Reverb, Super Unison, as well as effects and filter improvements to existing features.

Presets from legendary artists and sound designers

Pigments 4 features a wide range of presets, crafted by legendary artists, producers and sound designers. These exclusive, genre-defying presets provide a versatile sound palette for any user. From atmospheric soundscapes to synth-wave lead lines and powerful basses, Pigments can cater to any flavour.

The presets included are created by: Jeremiah Savage, Cubic Spline, Stephanie Schott, Matt Pike, Twolegs Toneworks, Simon Gallifet, Maxime Audfray, Femme and many more.

One of the most unique features is the Ideas icon. Hovering over this icon provides you with recommendations from sound designers, ideal for generating inspiration.

Create polyrhythms with the built-in sequencer

Transform your sounds into rhythms and patterns. Pigments 4 also provides you with a powerful sequencer with in-depth settings and parameters for taking total control. The sequencer moves along with the patterns you create, allowing you to see your rhythms and patterns in real time.

You can even create polyrhythmic animated sequences, providing you with 14 scales for added flexibility. You can even randomize your sequences for added fun, and it can also be useful for creating ideas when inspiration is at a low.
