One of the most successful funk bands to hail from the UK, Andrew Levy is a founding member of The Brand New Heavies. Along with bandmate Simon Bartholomew, Andrew has been writing, producing and playing funk live since 1985. From humble backgrounds, Andrew and company started their musical journey in London, playing at local pubs and clubs before expanding their sound and touring across the US, Japan and just about anywhere else on a map.
Andrews's bass playing has been heard on the radio waves around the world for over 3 decades. Influencing the early iterations of the LA and New York Hip Hop scene as well as being proponents of the Acid Jazz movement of the early '90s. A self-taught musician, Andrew's inspiration comes from many places including traditional British Pop, Classic, House, American Folk, Hip-Hop and much more. Citing influences such as James Brown, Earth Wind and Fire, Chic, George Duke, George Benson, Marvin Gaye and much more, it's clear that Andrew's talents stem from serious places.
